Running of the Apis

It is thought that the Running of the Bulls started in the 14th or 15th century as a display of machismo.

My theory in The Goddess Aped is that the Running of the Bulls began in ancient Egypt with the Running of The Apis. The Egyptian ritual was seen as one mainly of fertility but was also a royal rite and part of the Sed festival.
